Hobbiton

We visited the Hobbit (& Lord of The Rings movie set) and saw all of the Hobbit homes dotted along the hillside, some small and some large to help perspective when filming the different characters. We had a tour on a blistering hot day and were pleased to visit the pub for refreshment at the end! We visited Bilbo's house but as only the outside was used during filming (the inside scenes were filmed inside a studio in Wellington) there is only less than a metre inside of the house. I was dissapointed that the real house wasnt inside! On the tour we were told how Peter Jackson and his team flew over the area looking for potential places to film and they liked the look of the land here so arrived at the farmers house to ask if they could film the movies there.
