Waitomo caves

We went blackwater rafting in Waitomo caves today. This involved getting dressed in thick wetsuits and taking inner tubes and climbing down 65m into the caves below. Even though the weather was about 35 degrees above land, the water was icey cold in the caves. It was dark so we wore helmets with torches on to guide our way but at points turned off the lights to view the famous glow worms which glow in the dark and live on the roof of the caves. It was exciting going down waterfalls in the dark underground! I would have been more scared than excited if I'd seen the other creatures that we were sharing the water with earlier including these eels- eek!
