Cryptic

This sign has mysteriously appeared at a road junction near our village.  There's been quite a bit of chatter about it the last few days.  There's a broken wall from a recent accident on the other side of the road so some think it's just a joke - that the hole was made from stampeding elephants.  But now other cryptic signs have appeared around the village, also referring to elephants.  So perhaps it is really about raising awareness of elephant poaching?
