Verona
Sebastien enjoyed the sunshine at the Roman arena in Verona.
Have to admit, after so many years of dreaming of Verona (given that my name is Juliette, it was bound to happen) the city was quite a disappointment. Juliet's balcony was laughably touristy and covered in bad tourist graffiti, Juliet's statue was molested every two seconds by someone's hand on her breast (she's supposed to be fourteen for heaven's sake!!), the ancient city is basically a giant open-air high-end designer mall, and there is little left of the historical feel, except perhaps in the Palace of Reason with its beautiful stonework.
Ah well....can't have everything be perfect on a trip. Even Sebastien could feel it wasn't a good day and got rather upset on the train back to Venice. Granted it was hot, stuffy, and overcrowded. Poor guy.
Only fit he threw the entire trip, though, so he really is a very good travel companion.
