Aperture on Life

Sparrow Hawk

The bird feeders were empty so did a complete wash, disinfect and refill job this morning. The birds were queuing to get hold of the seeds by the time I was ready to get them outside again.

An amazing show of Goldfinch prompted me to get the camera out but after 2 shots the birds scattered as a brown thing whizzed past at lightning speed.
The brown thing landed on the post at the end of the veggie patch and all I had to do was move the lens slightly and refocus to get a through window pic of the Sparrow Hawk.  He, it's definitely a male, went without breakfast but now knows where the birds congregate. He'll be back.

Although you might think he has easy picking on the feeders but it's not really the best place for a bird of prey to hunt.  There are a high number of birds to prey on but also guards ready to raise the alarm as soon as he appears.

Sods Law.. I'm back blipping this so please see tomorrows journal for the Save Blipfoto event on the 18th.
