Hovering dragonfly(?)

Think this is a dragonfly or is it a mayfly? I am not sure, maybe someone else will know. I saw it out the window and wasn't sure if it was "drinking" from the cactus orhad impaled itself on the spike as it was there so long. I managed to grab my camera and open the sliding door and get out and focus, then I thought I'd move round to the other side but it then flew off. So I am very grateful to the creature that it stayed there long enough for me to get one shot of it.
