Wow
I must confess to be a little staggered this evening. Yesterday I wanted to simply say thank you to blip and blippers for the influence it had on my life. The story isn't a new one, I dropped it in around my 1000 blip too, but given the circumstances surrounding our favourite site at the moment it seems my (apologies Fe, our) story really did get out there. Thank you to everyone who left a comment and even subscribed on the back of my words yesterday. I almost forgot that nearly 100 people favourite a self portrait of me after a long days work....
Mind you it was about so much more than the photo, and that again sums up this site perfectly. It isn't really about that one picture a day, it never has been. I've posted some appalling shots, and even my best are little better than average, but it isn't the picture that is important. It's the sharing of experiences, of help and advice. It's extremely enlightening to know a few words and a photo a day can give you an insight into the hearts and minds of people you don't know.
Since news dropped of the liquidation etc I've felt increasingly sad for many people, all of those involved who lost their jobs and of course everyone who uses the site on a regular basis and 'believes' in the vision that Joe and the team had for the site. Selfishly I've felt sadfor myself too, every day out I go on I strive for that one picture that I can blip when I get home. Sometimes I wouldn't look at my shots immediately on my reurn, but blip motivates me to do so and by carrying out that action it reinforces my memories of some really happy times. I had a look back over a few of my favourite blips from the last few years, and the memories of some moved me immensely. However the best thing about looking back has been reading all the comments and interactions from people. Yesterday I paid tribute to this community with my blip, and throughout the last 24 hours you've paid tribute back. It's not about my blip, my story or me but all of us. So many people subscribed or commented yesterday with 'I haven't seen your journal before but...' and most of them I hadn't seen either. When I get some proper time I shall be subscribing to you all in return, expanding this community even further.
There may be trouble ahead, but something tells me every little thing, is gonna be alright.
Oh yeah in other news I took a photo. I thought I ought to, with it being a photo sharing forum and all that.
