Polyanthus Neon Violet - Spring Colour

Another aspect of the primula /primrose / cowslip confusion. Polyanthus seems to be the same family or genus.
I said I wanted only the natural pale yellow primroses in the dell but couldn't resist this bright neon violet colour when out shopping today.
We spent a long time choosing a paint colour for the wooden barrels which I've just emptied. They were a French Grey but we have lots of that in the garden now and opted for a damson colour with anthracite trellising behind it. After lunch, I painted 4 barrels and CH manfully tackled the trellis. I got fairly excited about the new colour and painted an obelisk which sits in the pink purple border. It was really tricky painting inside it as well as outside and took hours. But it looks fab. Took this shot of the Polyanthus Neon Violet propped up in a newly painted barrel so you can get an idea of the vibrant effect I want to create this summer.
