Dunmanus Tower House
What an amazing sight yesterday to see so many outstretched hands, and how wonderful to have faces behind names. Well done to Sahfotoblip for suggesting it. What a handsome lot we are!!!
Blipping early today as it's Himself's birthday and we shall be out gadding later. Actually we've already been out gadding and had a walk around Dunmanus, exploring the castle and wandering around the shore. It's a beautiful remote spot and today was pungent with the smell of silage and manure, and loud with the chattrer of rooks and choughs. The skinny tower house is built on natural rock and has a watery moat provided by the tide. It's an O Mahony castle and was built around 1430, one of the many along the coastline. Thick walls, tiny windows, very damp - you'd have to be tough to live here.
Catch up later.
