There is an annual Tourism Fair in Hexham and we've been there promoting the Walking Festival for the last few years. Accommodation providers come along and take leaflets to give to their guests.
For us, it is a great opportunity to "network". I put that in inverted commas because I regard it as one of those jargon words that I always thought of as a noun, but is now used a lot as a verb.
Here are Brian and Maria from the Walking Festival committee, talking to Helen, who is our friend on the Hexham Courant. She likes walking and writes regularly about festival news.
We had a great time today - made a good number of useful contacts - AND we were offered some sponsorship. Just out of the blue! We are very excited but can't say anything officially yet. Lots of people said nice things about the festival too, so it gave us a boost.
In the afternoon I took Mum to see her lovely rheumatologist, who was sympathetic, agreed that her legs are very weak, but did not have a lot to suggest. She did refrain from saying "at your age....."!
