Curious Kereru

This gorgeous plump Kereru has been a bit of a constant presence in the garden here in the Forest today. It feels like he's been in every tree on the property, and even at one point was drinking the puddle of rainwater that has formed on the top of the header tank.

For this shot though, my far-from-reluctant model was perched just above me in a Lacebark, waiting for his photo to be taken. As I tried to frame him (and Zoey snuffled around at the bottom of the tree, taken no doubt by possum scent) the inquisitive New Zealand wood pigeon shot me this glance. "How's this?" he may be saying...
