The Foundling Museum
I love spending the weekend in London, especially when the sun shines. There's so much to explore - and to revisit. I went back to the Foundling Museum in Bloomsbury, and enjoyed this visit as much as my first.
The statue of Thomas Coram stands outside, against the backdrop of Brunswick Square and Coram's Fields. Happy, well fed children, playing in peace is a fitting environment for this 18th Century gentleman, who finally received a Royal Charter from King George II in 1739, enabling him to establish his Foundling Hospital.
These were the days of Hogarth, Handel and Gin Lane.
The Museum is well worth a visit.
"Madame Butterfly" tonight - and, I hope, a Blipmeet.
