Viewing the Solar Eclipse

95% partial eclipse up in Glasgow, but it was very cloudy.  We did however manage to glimpse the moon passing between us and the sun for about 15 seconds.   It did get gloomy, but not as dark as I had expected.  All a bit disappointing, especially for those who had taken the trouble to set up telescopes, purchase protective lenses, make pinhole cameras, and look out their colanders. 

I witnessed the last eclipse here in summer of 1999, and it was much more dramatic.  Very clearly seen then, and it got much darker.
