Hellebore

Its been a day of mixed blessings.

Breakfast was spent looking forlornly out of the window at a heavy layer of cloud - no unique experience of a solar eclipse for me, the sky didn't even go very dark at the appointed time for the South of the UK :)   The pictures on the TV of the total eclipse made up for it though!

I then  knuckled down to complete laying the floor in my hallway, to fill in the gaps left when the cupboard in the porch was removed to allow a new porch and door to be fitted last year.

I still need to finish tidying up, but over lunch spotted a photography exhibition at Mottisfont Abbey, so dropped everything, threw the camera gear in the car and headed down the M3.  The exhibition, Light-works: Contemporary Photographywas very interesting. Many of the photos were taken without a camera.  One piece, Tremor  by Pekka Nittyvirta, appeared to be a fascinating video of textures and light experienced while walking through a cave - but turned out to be computer generated!

After the obligitory ice-cream sitting in the sun, I took a walk round the winter garden which was full of early daffs and many varieties of Hellebores. They are not the easiest of plants to photo as they insist on hanging their heads - but I managed to grab this one nicely backlit by the sun.
