More Wood Lust
A few weeks ago, I bought some hardwood at the Mount Vernon Building Center -- 20 miles south of Belligham. They were small pieces in the scrap box of mixed species, priced by weight. Wood is usually priced by volume, and I couldn't be bothered to use my calculator app to make the conversion, but the total cost of the few small pieces I chose was higher than I expected.
When I got home and did the math, I realized that the price of the wood was exorbitant. I kept putting off going back to return it until I had another reason to go in that direction. Today was the day.
Some of my woodworking buddies had told me that Smith and Vallee Woodworks in Edison has a good selection of surplus wood for sale, and their showroom hosts guest artist displays as well as their own products. The Rhody Cafe is just a mile away. Edison is not far from the freeway, in the direction of Mount Vernon. Plenty of reasons to go!
Not surprisingly, Cynthia was delighted when I invited her to go with me. It was a great day out -- lovingly described in C's blip here.
P.S. I found some nice pieces!
