Successful challenge!
I looked out of the cabin window this morning to see the sun rising behind Sydney Opera House, an awesome sight. Our cruise round Australia has come to an end, it was fantastic!!
We have checked in to a hotel for two nights and as our room was ready when we arrived, we dropped off the cases and headed out to see the sights and shop. I’ve not had any shopping time for 4 weeks, so it was great to wander and look. We are across the road from the Queen Victoria Building, so that was the first port of call.
I wanted some material for my quilt and have managed to get some, although patchwork/quilting shop are not usually found in city centres, the rates are too high.
I have always wanted to walk the Sydney Bridge (road level, not over the top) and that is what we did this afternoon, magnificent example of engineering!!
Back to the hotel to freshen up, then off the Darling Harbour for some food.
We had some excitement last night. Whilst we were at sea an ill passenger had to be airlifted off the ship by helicopter at about 10pm (in the dark). A winch man and gurney were lowered and the lady lifted.
Obviously we weren’t able to see any of this but we were kept informed by the captain at all stages over the 4 hr period of preparation and heard the helicopter close to the ship.
