Gumnut Babies.
These are the muse of May Gibb for her stories about the chubby babies who dressed in dainty hula-style grass skirts of beautiful hues enjoy each other's companionship and the adventures they share in the Australian bush with its multiplicity of these trees and others with leaves and flowers every bit as enchanting. These are shed as time moves on and litter the ground. The hard top of the flower that its skirt is pendulous from is turned by May Gibb into cheeky caps with a curvy peak like a topknot. Strings of them become adorning necklaces. Here the flowers are blown vigorously in a cold wind. We are wearing winter coats and scarves in an unseasonal cold snap.
