Moment's Wonder

Total Eclipse

We hiked 16 miles today in Kolob Canyon to go see the Kolob Arch.

The hike was 14 miles but we missed the arch and kept hiking up the canyon. When we came to the end, we realized our mistake and started tracking back. We ran into a group and they directed us back to a little pool and said it was right there. Well, we found the pool but no arch and were just about to give up, when Michelle saw it. Right there the whole time, but the lighting was such that it looked one dimensional and just part of the canyon wall, not to mention you had to look through the trees to see it! Photos taken by all and then it was back out.

On the way back, we stopped to cool off in the river. It was absolutely wonderful until Deb discovered she was covered with little worms, we all were covered with little worms that were attached to the rocks we were sitting on and laying against. you can see them attached to the rock in this picture.. A quick end to that break!

We g0t back to the parking area at 6:30, we left at 9:30 that morning.

On the drive back we stopped at a quick stop for root beer floats and the eclipse.
