Porty People and Places

Here is another of our community's movers and shakers. Her name is Catherine and she coordinated a gang of some thirty families on Porty Beach this afternoon for a Big Spring  Beach Clean, in association with Surfers Against Sewage. 

At the end of an energetic hour twenty very  large black bags of mainly plastic debris were consigned to the wheelie bin, for collection by ECC tomorrow, leaving the sands a cleaner and safer place than we found it.

It was a great event and our efforts were widely appreciated by the promenading public trying to pretend that summer time had arrived, despite the stiff and very chilly westerly breeze. Luckily the heavy showers of this morning had given way to bright sunshine - and out of the wind - there was more than a hint of warmer days to come!
