Die Nacht der Musicals

This evening I went to a musical theatre cabaret concert in Basel in the concert hall, or Stadt Casino as its called which I thought strange because I didn't see a single slot machine. The programme was a mixture of English and German numbers so I wasn't completely lost. It was interesting to hear how some of the shows have been translated into German. For example, "One Day More" in Les Mis is sung in German as "Morgen Schön" which literally translates as "tomorrow lovely".

I enjoyed hearing songs I knew and also those I didn't know quite so well. The finale was a medley of numbers from what I guessed to be a German musical set in New York and everyone in the audience appeared to know the words! I felt like a bit of an outsider.
