Re-connected,!

This was the scene on and around our driveway today as BT engineers were fault-finding on our land-line connection and restoring the service.
The villain of the piece is the silver birch tree which embraces the telegraph pole with its branches. The tree is under a preservation order, but in the weekend gales had managed to sever our connection. Lopping therefore not allowed, but a modest little bit of judicious pruning does not show and has done no harm!
The repair engineer had a brilliant little piece of kit with him which he connected into our phone socket and which then informed him that the break in the offending cable was at a point 34.5 metres from the house.
Clever or what? Modern technology is just amazing
We are now fully reconnected to the rest of the world.
