Alnmouth

I was on a promise - if I helped Mr C shovel the coal from the merchant's yard into bags, he'd come with me on a pretty coastal walk.  My part of the deal complete, we started towards the walk, from where I took this picture of the mudflats and estuary at Alnmouth.  (if you have ever gone on the mainline from London to Edinburgh you'll see this pretty town from the train).   But the blue sky was quickly being replaced with grey, and before we knew it, it was sleet, snow and hail.  As we had lots to do at home, we kept the rest of our walk for another day.

My good friend A got home yesterday from 2 months in New Zealand where she has been visiting her daughter and grandson.  She's coming to have supper tonight.  It will be great to see her - she has had an exciting visit, buying a house and furnishing it there.  She is torn between her two daughters and their children, as one lives here, so her plan now is she can have eternal summers with both families.
