Blue tailed Damselfly Ovipositing
Travelled down to Newport Wetlands, Goldcliff Lagoons today in search of a Black-winged Stilt, reported last night, to find the bird had flown ;( However it was not a wasted day, (no day in such a wonderful place ever can be ), as there was one of my favourite ducks, A Male Gargany, and it was my intention to blip an image of this bird today.
Unfortunately the bird stayed at a great distance and often hid away behind islands or banks so the images I got were not great.
An afternoon trip to the RSPB centre at Uskmouth provided me with an alternative blip of a Damselfly laying eggs or Ovipositing in the pond dipping area provided by the RSPB. The female shown is not as colourful as the male but can be more variable with the main thorax being emerald green, Bright Pink or Turquoise Blue as this individual.
