California here I come
Right back where I started from.
Well, 104miles south actually!!
So, today was bus>plane>plane>car.
What a flight! No one seemed to know what was happening! Just as I was arriving at the gate for departure I got a text to say that the plane wouldn't be taking off till 11:40 (instead of 7:30am). But they went ahead and boarded us at 6:40. We then sat on the plane on the tarmac for over 3hrs. We started off with a straight flight to Washington, then they decided we needed to stop at Bangor for a fuel top up due to the high winds. Then we wernt stopping, then we were again. And all the time we were waiting for the paperwork to come through with a flight plan. The flight was very bumpy all the way then at some point they decided that we'd need to fly into Boston to change the flight crew. So we did actually land in Boston and got to sit on the plane , on the Tarmac there for an hour before we took off for Washington...with the same flight crew! But we did get a different pilot. Second flight from Boston to Washington was much better but the landing was very rough!
Anyway, we got there, went through customs and I was impressed that they had all new boarding passes for us sitting waiting for new flights (being that we'd missed out connecting flights). So, I quickly checked my bag back in again and walked very quicky to the next plane, looking longingly at all the food places I passed on the way. I got there just as they were boarding. I went up to speak to them as I didn't have a seat allocation although I'd been booked onto that flight. They were very surprised (and a bit bummed) that I'd made it in time. I was the only one they managed to squeeze on to that flight! Phew!
This last flight was lovely and smooth and we even ended up landing 2mins early!
So after sitting on a plane for 21hrs (should have only been 16hrs) I was finally here.
And, I got the news (just before leaving London) that my eldest nephew just got engaged. :D
