Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Tuesday, March 31, 2015 -- Peering at the Pier

We drove a few miles north this afternoon to San Simeon Cove to walk the beach with the three pooches. It is a beautiful curved beach with an outcropping of land that protects the area from wind and rugged surf.

We had no thoughts of finding sea glass, but unexpectantly Mr. Fun saw a piece and reached down to pick it up. Then I started looking as well. Within a short span of time we had gathered a dozen pieces of various colors and several unique shapes.

After walking as far north as possible in the cove, we turned and walked south. As we strolled under the pier, I captured this shot. The pier seems twice as high as the pier here in Cayucos. I don't know why it is so high, but it is obviously well built and well maintained. The pier was originally built by the Hearst family, who had built the Hearst Castle up the hill and overlooking the cove.

This evening we said goodbye to March as we watched the sun slowly sink into the northern landscape. The earth has rotated enough that the sun is no longer going down over the water.

Good night from Central California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka
