Cross

Another evening in the City Chambers for the pre-service training learning about the rota management and discussing what we had taken from our observations of children's hearings. What sort of panel member do the trainees wish to be?

As we left I noticed a number of groups around the Mercat Cross from which the pronouncement about the general election was read the other day by the Lord Lyon in all his finery. Made me realise that the tourist season is in full swing.

For our son's 8th birthday party - he's 25 this weekend - we took a group on one of these tours. We had checked beforehand that it was suitable for children of that age. The graphic details of nailing liars' tongues to the cross caused an (adult) American tourist to faint! For some reason his pals' parents were not too pleased as they had to comfort their children for a few nights afterwards. It was a party that is remembered!

Day overshadowed by a colleague who had to be taken to hospital so hope the the morning brings better news.
