DOING WHAT IT DOES BEST!

We had been invited to visit some friends in their new home in Bournemouth, so set off on a grey and damp day.  They have transformed both the house and garden since we last visited and of course, Mr. HCB was especially interested in the garden.  I was interested in the garden too, but more from a "blipping" point of view!

This wonderful pink magnolia was flowering prolifically and it is not even theirs - the branches have come through from their next door neighbour's garden, but of course, they are thrilled to be able to enjoy the beauty of it.  It’s quite surprising that it is blossoming at all, given the wet, cold and windy weather we have had, but a magnolia does what it does best and that is to blossom in the springtime.

I wonder if we do what we do best?  Thinking about that reminded me of a passage in the Bible which speaks about the different gifts we have been given:

God has also given each of us different gifts to use.
If we can prophesy, we should do it
according to the amount of faith we have.
If we can serve others, we should serve.
If we can teach, we should teach.
If we can encourage others, we should encourage them.
If we can give, we should be generous.
If we are leaders, we should do our best.
If we are good to others, we should do it cheerfully.
Romans 12: 6-8
Contemporary English Version

I also believe that if we have been given a gift, we need to use it, otherwise we lose it - so I will go on encouraging others.  I know it doesn’t say in this list anything about chatting and drinking cups of coffee or even eating cake, but I’m sure that is included in the gift of encouragement - so if you want to be encouraged, then do get in touch and it can be arranged!

Have a blessed Easter, fellow blippers.
