Sanderlings at Luskentyre

We're staying with our friends A and D at their croft on the Isle of Harris. This afternoon we walked from the car park at the far end of Luskentyre across the beach as far as we could go without getting our feet wet. We  crossed almost the entire mouth of the bay, taking in the three beaches opposite Taransay (Rossamol, Losgaintir and Sheileboist), before we hit the Luskentyre river. On the way back I blipped these sanderlings (I think) hunting for food, and another couple in the distance.

Exercise today: 1.5 hour walk on the beach.
