Lambs...

It's been a good lambing in the Manor Valley and up the Tweed.   The mild weather has resulted in a large number of lambs who have survived their entry into this world.

I was reminded this morning - seeing many lambs in April - of Sir Hugh Roberton and his Glasgow Orpheus Choir.  This world-famous choir, disbanded in 1951, had this choral song almost as their signature tune.  He was a powerful and demanding conductor was Sir Hugh.   He was also a pacifist which led to the Choir being banned from broadcasting on the BBC during WWII.

All in the April evening.
April airs were abroad;
I saw the sheep with their lambs
And thought on the Lamb of God.
