bank holiday joy

what an absolute stunner of a day, most definitely my favourite day of 2015 thus far.

today started off well with more delicious galettes. how can a day go anything but swimmingly after such a yummy breakfast? then off to the ironworks in oswestry to see the ironworks (obvs) and more importantly, the falconry display (thanks to looking4beauty for the recommendation!)

the whole thing was way more fascinating after reading 'h is for hawk' and they were such wonderful creatures. r got to hold one before the display started, which i think was exciting and terrifying in equal measures. 

after a family farewell we headed back into shrewsbury for a glorious couple of hours of reading and sunshine in the quarry. i don't think life gets much better than when the sun is shining. back home for a delicious dinner and glass of wine.

then, as if the day wasn't brilliant enough already, we stumbled across chickensparrow on our way for an ice-cream. an hour of hanging around st alkmunds church, eating ice-cream and chatting nonsense while the sun gently set. 

days don't get much better than today.
