Cans, Cars and Castle Hill

Another glorious day. A bit of gardening, a quick trip down Halifax to pick up some shopping and then off to play in the Holme Valley.

First stop should have been the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's Upper Park Wood Nature Reserve at Honley.  The website said  "you reach a high wall which can be parked against" - it didn't say that your car would be sticking out into the road on a fast blind  bend - so gave this a miss!

Second stop - was the Oil Can Cafe at Hepworth. An amazing place  see photos with great food, classic cars, vintage clothes shops and much more.

Third stop was Victoria Tower on Castle Hill. The tower is open to the public on certain Bank Holidays, so today it was possible to climb the 32 metres to the top. The beacon next to the tower was last lit in 2012 to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It will be lit again at dusk on May 8th - one of a string of beacons stretching from Newcastle to Cornwall lit to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE day. - The dot in the sky is a helicopter!

Final stop was the Ford dealers this evening - my new car has arrived and was sitting in the forecourt awaiting preparation.

More gardening this evening.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunny weather.
