Bagshaw
I was out on site visits for most of the day. My travels took me to various community buildings, libraries and museums including Dewsbury Museum, Bagshaw Museum and Oakwell Hall.
I am always fascinated by Bagshaw (pictured) which sits in a clearing at the top of the woods at Wilton Park. It's a former mill owner's house set in 36 acres. It hosts, amongst other things, the council's Egyptology collection including the coffin of a mummy called Ta-di-ta-nebet-nen.
I used to visit the park as a child. I would sail toy boats, catch sticklebacks, have a picnic and walk through the woods up the steep slope to the museum. I always found the building to be rather spooky and mysterious. I still do.
