Fantastic Erratic

When my kids were little, Easter was about chocolate, egg hunts and spending the day with family. That is, after church obligations were complete. This Easter, our religious obligations were completed early, the kids were gone and the weather was great so we went hiking.

One of the things I have loved most about living in Seattle is how beautiful the environs are and how little you have to drive or walk to get away from it all. Today, we headed for Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park near Bellevue.  The park is 25,000 acres of woodland trails.

We decided we wanted to go see the "Fantastic Erratic." In this case, the "fantastic erratic" is a huge glacial boulder left in an area from the last ice age. You might miss the boulder because it is now covered in ferns but we sat atop it and had a little picnic. I didn't manage to capture a photo that was very interesting of the boulder so I thought I'd share this small waterfall instead.
