Rhine Cruise Day Two

This morning we went on a guided tour of Edam and Volendam - what divine wee villages - and also popped in to a wee cheese factory. The whole place is SO tidy. I didn't see any litter the whole time. And only one bit of dog poo.

I must say, the tour is very well organised, with individual little 'voice boxes' which we carry, and the tour guide speaks into a microphone and we can all hear her - no matter if we're straggling away behind. Brilliant. The tour guide was excellent too, giving us lots of interesting facts.

We were all back from our tours (some did an Amsterdam canal cruise) and set sail about midday, and we're now cruising towards the Rhine, and Germany.

One good thing about the muzak in the bar area - it eventually drives us to the peace of our room (with minibar). Haven't seen Zuli today (our personal butler) but our 'cabin attendant' Aarhon (also Indonesian) has replaced, in triplicate, the Pringles... Good man!

We were delighted to discover a towel SWAN when we came back today!! And the shower does deserve a mention - it's got sort of 'slow disco' lights!

Did a wee collage of our day:
The faces were in a pharmacy window - tongues out ready for the pills.

In Volendam we had an excellent Dutch coffee (with the proper 'coffee milk') in a wee rustic hotel with walls covered with old paintings which had been accepted in exchange for payment for meals over the years. It was so atmospheric (apart from the inevitable muzak).

And I had to include the swan.

Been chatting to lots of folk - they all seem seasoned cruisers, but our Moroccan tour and Tanzanian Safari last year certainly adds to our street cred...

Need to snooze off this afternoon's three proseccos before the Gala Dinner tonight. Can't wait to see the outfits... In fact - can't wait to see MY outfit! But I really should try to keep my newly tarted-up dog walking shoes under the table...
