God's Acre

The entrance gate of the town's old God's Acre (an old expression for burial ground) houses Rolls of Honour for the town's dead in both World Wars.  This burial ground was not used after - I think - the 1930s, when a new God's Acre was consecrated.

The town could not have been Corfe Castle if the castle were not included somewhere in this photo.  (The same principle applies to Paris and its principal eyesore, the Eiffel Tower.)  So if you look for it, you will soon locate the castle.  You will probably not notice the two lampposts, subtly positioned by the local Council to ensure that some more up-to-date elements appear in this view.
