The Long and Winding Road
To continue the song lyrics I have used in my two previous blips, I could have taken
The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Or
The road is long
With many a winding turn
After finishing the measurements for The Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon at lunchtime I had some time to explore more of this stunningly beautiful area.
This is The Mull of Kintyre. The sea is The Atlantic Ocean. Somewhere way beyond the horizon is America.
The drive to The Mull is narrow and very scenic. Then the road stops.
To get to the lighthouse you walk. You need to be in good shape too. It is a mile to the lighthouse and the road is steep.
Remember as you go down that you return the same way!
My blip gives us an idea of the scale on the scene.
The views at every turn at gorgeous and for those capable the walk is well worth it.
Not only was I blessed with sunshine and great views, but solitude too. As I drove there I saw only 2 cars coming the other way. Once I got there I didn't see anyone else.
It is a truly beautiful and peaceful place.
I will be leaving tomorrow; I can certainly recommend the area to visit.
