Sea mists

Although it has been a bright sunny day the sea mists have been rolling in.  We set off for Sheldon but turned back when we saw how misty it was on the other side of the estuary.  Instead we had a pub lunch looking over the River Exe estuary in the sun.  We wandered around Topsham and stopped at the RSPC site at Bowling Green Marsh.  While we were there the sea mist started to roll up the river.  This shot was taken there, two Shelducks are just visible in the foreground.  We also spotted a Curlew, Shoveler, Little Egret, a Heron and a juvenile Heron.

We had to return early because this evening should be the end of the leatherjackets.  The infestation has become so bad we have had to call in the professionals.  So hopefully we should not have swarms of Crane flies (daddy longlegs) around later in the year and of course a lawn rather than bare turf.  My husband has been spending several hours, most nights, picking them up as they come out of the lawn, so he could do with a break.
