Grumpy holiday day

What is with holidays sometimes? You really look forward to them and then everything goes wrong! OK not everything! But we had a terrible night's sleep (Squidge had earache) and we both woke up in a grump as a result and it never seemed to shift.

The hotel we are staying in is gorgeous but sadly not the friendliest when it comes to welcoming small humans. We had a surly service at breakfast and as Squidge was a bit whingey and tired too it was tough going.

We managed to get out and about and Edinburgh was beautiful and sunny which raised our spirits. Squidge enjoying a run round Princess Street Gardens and the see-through train bridge (hours of fun!) We even met up with friends and their gorgeous new baby and managed a lovely lunch at family fave Wagas! Being central has so many benefits and we love the area we're staying in.

But this afternoon Squidge got worse and it ruined things for us as there really was no pleasing her. I managed to buy a new laptop (job I have been meaning to do for weeks) but we quickly gave up on the shops.

She won't even entertain Angus at the moment (clingy with me as always) and it's been draining as even though he is here, I am still the one she wants 24/7. I had kinda banked on a bit of a break!

We came back to the room and played jigsaws and skittles (new purchases) with her in the end. Followed by an ill-fated trip out for drinks and Squidge's tea (pictured) when Angus forgot his coat and we actually started laughing at how wrong things had gone today.

Squidge is asleep now, the fire and candles are lit in our hotel room and we have room service on the way. Hopefully things will improve and we'll have a better day tomorrow.
