Mallards Lake

We've walked along the far side of this lake many times and it has featured in several blips over the last couple of years but rarely do we see the view from this side.

It all came about becuase I was going to collect offcuts of carpet to line the base of our pond. Gardeners World suggested that carpets and old blankets make just as good a liner as sand or specially made liner and have the added benefit of being cheaper. So I put an advert in our local Freecycle group and within 20 minutes had an email back saying that they had carpet and I could collect it now. Hence the journey past Mallards Lake.

That's the second bit of carpet acquired - the other was from the tip last week. That mat had not been prpoerly thrown into the skip so I liberated it. Jolly good bit of mat too, can't see why they wanted to throw it away.

The trip out for the carpet was a bit of a highlight for the day as I spent most of the rest of the day at the computer apart from letting myself out to sow a few seeds and pot on some leeks.

I did have a result with the car insurance - renewal quote nearly £200, online quote, same company £150, rang company, got the insurance for £150. Why do we have to play these games? Every time I get a renewal for anything it results in a phone call or a web search to get a better deal.
