Time to Nest!

In our front garden is a Cherry Tree and last year a couple of pigeons nested there - their wee one came along but unfortunately one of the local cats made "3 become 2 again!!"

However, a couple of magpies have this year decided to build a nest and the great thing about it is that we can watch them creating their masterpiece from our bedroom window.

As in any relationship, the building work has been steady, with the male working away trying to create the perfect home for his good lady - however one day we noticed that a plastic Coat hanger was added to the nest - "Looks Fab" I thought!! However Clare thought differently.

The day after it was added, we noticed that it had been turfed out of the nest and was lying in the garden....You can just imagine the conversation....

Man Magpie - "But it will look fab in here and junior will love it!!
Lady Magpie - "What the ........!! Get that out of here now!!!"

and the female wins again - no change there then!!!  :-)

However it is great watching them build the nest - layer upon layer of material will be used until their home is ready for (hopefully) a young one to join them...time will tell!!
