Culross Palace

Culross ( pronounced Coorus) is a wee gem of a place on the north bank of the River Forth just into west Fife. This is the palace, dating from late 16th-early 17th century. And yes, it really is that colour. It was actually a merchant's house rather than a royal residence. It's now looked after by the National Trust for Scotland and has been splendidly restored, as have the palace gardens. In fact many of the buildings in this former royal burgh have been restored by NTS; they are uniquely beautiful and well worth a look. As is the Biscuit Cafe where we had lunch today.
