Restoration
We pulled off the road on the way to club and pool today to visit one of Teresópolis's most beautiful waterfalls, and found that at least this natural treasure has been restored. The last several times I've been there, the undergrowth obscured the view, the paths were impassable, and the guard rails were broken or missing . Also, the road was about to collapse and a shanty town was growing up at the end of it. Sinister memories still surround the falls, though - many bodies are believed to have been swept over them in the floods four years ago, only a few of which were recovered.
HH and I went over to the golf side of the club, and saw our Argentine friend again (his wife was in town getting a manicure), while the family sampled the pool. Nephew and the boys found it just fine, but his wife thought it was the coldest water she had ever swum in. Wild horses wouldn't have got me into it.
Chilly by the end of the afternoon, so we came home, lit the fire and ate comfort food (pork and prunes, yummy)!
