Reflections
It was a beautiful morning at Spring Lake this morning which brought out kids on scooters bikes and skateboards, kids in strollers, cyclists, boaters and fisher people, so we decided to take the high route over to the second lake in the area. Lake Ralphine is home to ducks and ducklings, swans, herons, white geese and Canada geese, and a boat house with paddle boats and kayaks. A Lesser Heron stood on a rock, red eyed gaze fixed on something in the water. The geese seem incapable of moving without honking at the same time…rather like Beijing taxis. Young people at the boathouse bantered as they readied the boats for the upcoming season.
In the end, it was the interesting reflections in the water that captured both the light and my fancy.
As we were making our way around the rest of Spring Lake on the way back to the car, a young woman negotiated with her whiney small child.
"Next time I come to Spring Lake, you can stay home with grandma" elicited a shriek of outrage. Anything but staying with Grandma, apparently, but it didn't appear that she had much appetite for walking around the lake either….
With 10,000 steps in the bag we headed for home and some lemon pound cake for lunch, since a trip to the store for more provisions is definitely in the cards for the afternoon.
