Green Glasgow
There's a maze in Glasgow's George Square. I found myself drawn towards it this afternoon after my meeting in Glasgow finished. How could I resist? Everyone loves a maze.
The green labyrinth consists of 2.4m high foliage walls covering approximately 14 square metres. That's a wee cube of magic with a motion flooring converting the kinetic energy from your footsteps into electricity, and piano at its core that you can play!
The installation is supposed to be a fun, educational way of getting people and particularly children interested in green issues.
The maze is part of Glasgow Green Year 2015 - celebrating the City's aspiration to be one of the most sustainable cities around. Building on the theme and the legacy of the Commonwealth Games here, People Make Glasgow, this shows how in turn People Make Glasgow Greener.
People can come together to build a more sustainable future for the city - and that's part of what the maze is there to teach. I for one think it's a wonderful idea. Did I mention I love mazes?
A quick run when I got home finished off the day quite nicely. It wasn't the easiest 5k I've ever ran - my legs felt quite sluggish - but it was nice to get back out there.
