The class divide
Avington Park House is impressive when you come over the brow of the hill from Easton village
I have been reading one Jane Austen novel after another recently (they are free on i books but that's not the only reason, I really do love the writing). So I can clearly picture the house in its heyday. Entertaining guests, a stroll on the lawn by the lake followed by afternoon tea served in the east wing. All very delightful.
I cycled on through the next few villages, lots of lovely country houses. I was amazed at the number of election placards on display.
Almost one in every driveway!
They were all coloured blue. Not much changed around here then.
