Looking up ...
... the half mile across the fields, to the school, church, Manor (B&B), and Glebe.
11.6C and bright with long sunny spells. Wind to 16 mph with gusts to 29 mph.
Maeve the Deerhound spent most of the morning out in the back garden, lying on the grass in the sunshine. I went out myself late morning and did some pruning, cutting down the Autumn raspberries too.
Maeve and I went for our walk after lunch. We went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. There were a few more cars on the quiet country road than usual. One car stopped and asked for directions to Easthaven and told me the shore road was closed due to a road traffic accident. At Scryne Maeve and I turned right and went down the road to Easthaven then came back along the cycle path which runs alongside the shore road.
Just before we came level with the bridle path the road was closed. There was a police car, an ambulance, and two cars which were both badly damaged at the front. Wheels bent, front ends crushed and engine blocks exposed. Both were facing the same way and were twenty yards or so apart, so it was not obvious what had happened.
Two policeman were standing on the path and we said hello as we went past. The ambulance left without lights or siren when we were further along the path waiting for the sun to come out from behind a cloud so I could get some shots for Wide Angle Wednesday. The last one for the moment hosted by Hobbs, this time on the theme of Looking Up.
As we carried on along the cycle path a recovery truck arrived at the scene of the accident. We went along the bottom road and round in a long loop, heading into Carnoustie then up the main road before turning along for home.
