River of Flowers

Viburnum Opulus (Guelder Rose)

During this morning's rain (which carried on until tea time!) I was leaning out of the window blipping down onto the Guelder Rose. It isn't a proper rose but it's white flowers are very early and pretty - bees and insects love it. When the flowers fade it has lovely red berries which the blackbirds and thrushes like eating.

The pink flowered shrub in the background is in the carpark and is a double flowered deep pink hawthorn, also popular with the wild life.

Confessions :
1 - the guelder rose has been attacked by aphids which have made the leaves mangled and horrible, so can't blip up close
2 - I took some closeups of my broad bean flowers but they were very blurred :-(
