Canal run
Although I've run along the Leeds Liverpool canal as it passes through Chorley on many occasions, I've always headed south from the Lock & Quays, which is where I join the path. However, when we had our picnic the other day, we'd headed north, walking up through the locks. I'd mentioned to the Minx that it looked like it would make a lovely run and she said she'd find me a route.
My meeting in Thetford, this morning, went really well but, consequently, was only a couple of hours long, so I arrived back in the north far earlier than I expected to, which meant I could take a quick nap - the perfect antidote to a long drive - and catch up with work before heading out for a run.
Although I have been swimming regularly, I haven't been out to run for over three weeks, which is unusual for me and also a recipe for an uncomfortable jog, with lots of aches and niggles (which will all have disappeared next time I go out). Indeed, the first two miles of the run were largely uphill and I felt crap. The next stretch, running along the canal path were lovely though and I could feel my stride lengthening.
I was still knackered when I got back but I feel great now, just knowing that I'm running again.
