Aground on a Sea of Mud

11.2C starting bright then light haar or low cloud from late morning. Light breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went through to Arbroath before 9am and had our walk round the harbour. It was still bright when we got there and sunny when we walked round.

Low tide was 8.31am and the outer harbour was very shallow with no water at all near the outer harbour wall. Several boats, including Defiant, were aground on a sea of mud.One of the day trip fishing boats, Girl Katherine, was getting ready to leave. Rods were lined up at one side of the boat and the fishermen were arriving. I assume departure would be soon after there was enough water for sailing, but things tend to happen slowly around boats so no one was in a hurry.

The boatyard slipway was empty today. The lock gate to the inner harbour was closed to keep the water level to about 3 metres, so we were able to walk round in a loop.

After lunch we went for a two mile walk. Down the road to the shore road, but not down to the beach today, then back home in a loop. F1 qualifying is later this afternoon on telly.
