Ladies and Gentlemen, charge your glasses and toast ex-planet Pluto. Our solar system changed from a 9 planet system to an 8 planet system on 24 August 2006. The Scientific community officially demoted Pluto to a dwarf planet because it "hadn't cleaned up it's neighbourhood". Originally discovered in 1930, Disney created Mickey Mouse's dog in celebration of the discovery. Pluto is the Roman equivalent for Hades.

Although Pluto has been demoted to a minor planet, it's still interesting. Pluto and it's moon Charon are better described as a binary planetary system because they're relatively close in size and even share an atmosphere.

I for one will continue to name it as a planet, regardless of what the International Astronomical Union say.
